To equip participants with the skills, knowledge and confidence to contact and make referrals to Children’s Social Care.
Important note: It is essential that you have undertaken the Safeguarding Children e-learning prior to coming on this course (see additional information under full details), or you may be turned away.
By the end of the course participants will be able to:
understand the importance of gathering and sharing information at an early stage when working with families
identify the level of need within a family and how to respond to this within their own service
identify, approach and engage other agencies in supporting children, young people and families
clearly communicate safeguarding concerns verbally and in writing to Children’s Social Care
know what to expect from Children’s Social Care following an Initial Contact or a Child Protection referral
know how to challenge decisions made by Children’s Social Care or escalate concerns where they believe a child or young person continues to be at risk.
Maximum Delegates A maximum of three representatives from each team may have a confirmed place and further bookings will be put on a wait list.
Preparation and Follow Up Before attending any ESSCP training course, participants must attend a Basic Signs and Indicators Child Protection course provided/commissioned by their own organisation or have accessed the Safeguarding Children online e-learning training course.
