Important: This training is part of the COVID19 interim training programme and is suitable for new and existing staff.


It is recommended that new staff attend face to face training when available.


A 2.5 hour workshop exploring contemporary knowledge, understanding and practice in the field of Autism Spectrum conditions and Neurodiversity. This course requires basic knowledge of autism and experience in working with people with autism.


This is a remotely delivered course and delegates should therefore ignore any map or venue information.

The link to join the training will be sent one week before the day of the event.

Training objectives

To develop a broader understanding of Autism Spectrum Conditions and build on existing skills, harnessing new perspectives, strategies and tools to improve practice in crisis scenarios and in unfamiliar environments.

  • Adapt communication styles to be autism specific in crisis scenarios

  • Understand the neurology of autism and the impact this has on communication and interaction

  • Ability to check informed understanding and decision making from a client

  • Assess environmental impact on your autistic client and have a range of suitable adjustments in order to ease stress.
