Course description
To maintain the safety of all participants on this training, delegates are asked to wear a face mask for the duration of the course.

In addition, the trainers request that each delegate completes a lateral flow test before attending. If the result of this test is either positive or inconclusive, please DO NOT ATTEND the course and instead re-book yourself for an alternative date.

This training is ONLY suitable for those working in a Learning Disability service.  ESCC staff should not attend this training but should refer to the ESCC DPS ONLY programme.

  •  At the end of the training, a Community Learning Disability Nurse will demonstrate how to administer emergency medication used in epilepsy and you will watch a DVD of safe administration of Buccal Midazolam. You will also have the opportunity to practice the administration of rectal diazepam.

If you require the rectal Diazepam training, please contact the Adult Social Care training team at asct@eastsussex.gov.uk to confirm this. There is specific equipment needed that will only be brought on courses where delegates have confirmed a need for rectal Diazepam training.

  • Your manager will be responsible for providing ongoing support in the workplace but it will be your responsibility to highlight any concerns you have regarding administration of the medication.

  • A certificate of attendance will be provided; this is not a certificate of competence.
