This training is aimed at staff who are supporting clients who are prescribed an adrenaline auto injector or possibly may at any time (e.g. JCR staff)



  • Support with adrenaline auto-injectors is a Level 3 specialist task (ESCC Safe Handling of Medication Policy)

  • If supporting clients prescribed with adrenaline, the training must be refreshed annually.

Training objectives

To have an awareness of anaphylaxis and how to administer adrenaline using an auto-injector (e.g. epi-pen).

Learning outcomes

By the end of this session, it is anticipated you will:



  • Have an awareness of possible allergens

  • Be able to describe symptoms of allergic reactions

  • Be familiar with different types of adrenaline auto-injectors

  • Know how to administer adrenaline using an auto-injector

  • Have had a competency assessment in a training environment using a practice Epi-pen.
