If you require the rectal Diazepam training, please contact the Adult Social Care training team at firstname.lastname@example.org to confirm this. There is specific equipment needed that will only be brought on courses where delegates have confirmed a need for rectal Diazepam training.
The aim of this course is to provide basic training around epilepsy, its management and care. This may include the practical demonstration in the administration of Buccal Midazolam or Rectal Diazepam.
By the end of this session it is anticipated you will be able to:
· Explain key aspects of epilepsy
· Identify different seizures; groups and types
· State safe practice measures when responding to/supporting an individual having a seizure
· Discuss anti-epileptic medication and side effects, including emergency medication (Buccal Midazolam or Rectal Diazepam)
