You will be sent a First Aid manual and workbook via email, so it’s vital that you give us your correct email address if it differs from the one on your East Sussex Learning Portal user account.

Workbooks are not to be shared between colleagues; each person who wishes to complete this training MUST book their own place on it. Workbooks returned to the trainer by delegates who have not booked a place will NOT be marked.

After reading the First Aid manual, please complete the Microsoft forms workbook by no later than the 10 am Thursday after you receive the manual.

Submissions received after this time will not be marked and your training record will not be updated to show completion of this course. Please only submit once as only the first submission will be looked at.
Ann will assess your submission and send summative feedback to you.

Your East Sussex Learning Portal user account will be updated to show completion of this training once your workbook has been marked.

This is a distance learning course which does not involve attendance at a training venue or a virtual meeting. Code: ASC/22/227 BIA Legal Refresher

This session will be facilitated by Simon Foster, who has worked both as a Local Authority solicitor and as legal head of MIND.

This session will update BIAs on changes to case law, as well as aspects of the law that have changed because of the impact of Covid-19. Simon will also update BIAs about progress on the implementation of LPS. There will also be an opportunity for individual BIAs to discuss practice legal dilemmas they have encountered and obtain feedback from Simon and their peers.

Please note, this session is intended to be a repeat of the sessions delivered in October 2021. 

The Brighton University will send delegates an email link to the online platform prior to the course starting.

This focussed programme aims to develop manager’s knowledge, skills and confidence to enable them to fully integrate a coaching approach into the daily management of staff and projects in order to operate effectively, promote a culture of empowerment and engagement and to support creativity in a challenging business environment.
 
A coaching approach is increasingly well evidenced across the business community and public sector as an appropriate and successful leadership style, creating a ‘win-win’ effect, where staff are motivated and engaged, and work can be successfully devolved, freeing up valuable management time and resources.

This is an online training course aimed at frontline staff who are working directly with people who are experiencing Dementia. (Tier 2 - linked to Dementia Training Standards Framework 2018).

  • This course looks at what medications are used to treat people with Dementia including cognitive enhancers, psychotropics and pain management.
  • The course is delivered via a Recorded PowerPoint presentation which has been uploaded on the ESCC YouTube Channel. The Course can be accessed over a 5-day period providing flexibility for the learner. There are various activities and case studies to engage the learner. The course requires the completion of an online assessment. This serves to consolidate and evidence learning.
    The video (YouTube) can be viewed on all digital platforms (including mobile phone) and can be viewed independently or as a small group (dependant on organisational social distancing policy) so please ensure you have YouTube installed.

Code: ASC/22/109 Posture and Seating: An Integral Component of Good Moving and Handling for Clients with Restricted Mobility - Covid19 Interim Training Programme

This course is aimed at those assessing and caring for adults with restricted mobility who struggle to re-adjust or move their position when seated.

The course covers:

  • Normal posture and how function relates to posture
  • Anatomy of the pelvis and spine
  • The effects that immobility has on the body, in relation to posture, tissue viability, circulation etc
  • An awareness of postural issues and how to correct them or support them
  • The importance of ensuring that clients sit in a functional postural position and are repositioned appropriately
  • Appropriate hoisting techniques into a chair
  • Ensuring the client's seat provides suitable support for them.

For the practical element participants attending should be fit, dressed appropriately and able to fully participate. Footwear should be flat/ low heel and closed in toes. No flipflops or open toe sandals.

Code: ASC/22/844 Safeguarding Adults: Making Safeguarding Enquiries for Lead Enquiry Officers - Bespoke Session (EVENT FULL)

This training course is for operational staff in ESCC Adult Social Care Services who may be asked to make or contribute to a safeguarding enquiry under Section 42 of the Care Act 2014, and will include; the Local Authority's duty under s42 of the Care Act 2014; planning an enquiry; involving the adult – using a Making Safeguarding Personal approach; completing an enquiry.

This is for staff, new to ESCC or new to the role of making enquiries. Staff who have previously completed Enquiry Officer / Enquiry Manager training do not need to attend as the course content is very similar.

Staff will need to have completed a Safeguarding Adults Basic Awareness training session before taking part in these modules.

This Making Safeguarding Enquiries for Lead Enquiry Officers virtual training is made up of 4 Modules:

The modules are:
