You will be sent a First Aid manual and workbook via email, so it’s vital that you give us your correct email address if it differs from the one on your East Sussex Learning Portal user account

Workbooks are not to be shared between colleagues; each person who wishes to complete this training MUST book their own place on it. Workbooks returned to the trainer by delegates who have not booked a place will NOT be marked

After reading the First Aid manual, please complete the workbook and return it (via an email with answers typed or completed in PDF, saved and returned) for marking to ann.holland@eastsussex.gov.uk by no later than the Thursday after you receive the manual.

Workbooks received after this time will not be marked and your training record will not be updated to show completion of this course.

Your East Sussex Learning Portal user account will be updated to show completion of this training once your workbook has been marked.

Code: ASC/21/385 Falls Prevention - Online learning (EVENT FULL)

An online learning course for staff working with people who are at risk of falls. The course utilises a recorded (voice over) PowerPoint presentation which can be viewed multiple times. There are also various activities and a case study to engage the learner. The course requires the completion and return of a workbook which serves to foster a deeper level of learning.

You will receive an email with full instructions by 10am on the day of the training (including all resources and links)

Access Requirements:

• Adobe Acrobat Reader

• Internet

• Closed captions have also been added to the presentation for delegates who are Hard of Hearing if this is their preferred method of access. Earphones or other assistive technology can also be used.

The video (YouTube) can be viewed on all digital platforms and can be viewed independently or as a small group (dependent on organisational social distancing policy). 

The workbook comes in a Word document format so access to Microsoft Word is required.

Once your place has been confirmed, the trainer will issue you with the necessary links and workbook shortly before the course is due.

This course is for staff who wish to enhance their knowledge beyond basic level (Care Certificate) Infection Control training.

This course is suitable for any staff working with clients who have or may develop issues with capacity to make decisions (e.g. clients with dementia /learning disability/alcohol abuse/drug abuse etc.)
 
The course provides an overview of the Act covering assessing capacity, making best interest decisions, lasting powers of attorney, IMCAs and advanced decisions.

Code: ASC/21/393 Mental Health First Aid delivered remotely via MS Teams

This course is for Adult Social Care staff who want to train as Mental Health First Aiders to support their colleagues in the workplace.

The course will teach you practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues and help you gain confidence to step in, reassure and support a person in distress.

On completion you will be a certified Mental Health First Aider.

This course is a blend of live training sessions and self-learning activities which must be completed before the live training sessions in order to become an accredited Mental Health First Aider.

The guidance from MHFA England indicates the following pre-course self-learning durations:

Pre day one:

Session 1: 1 hour
Session 2: 2 hours

Pre day 2:

Session 3: 2 hours
Session 4: 2 hours

What managers are agreeing to when approving their staff member’s attendance on this course:

  • To releasing your staff member for the two day training course, plus any post support sessions (approx. 2 sessions lasting a maximum of 3 hours each).
  • To releasing your staff member for related meetings and/or training (approximately 2 per year).
  • Allowing time to support colleagues when needed (often at short notice).

What you are committing to:

  • Undertaking the accredited training and any additional training (where required) to acquire and maintain your MHFA certificate.
  • Becoming part of the pool of accredited MHFAers and providing mental health first aid within your workplace as needed, at your level of competence and training.
  • Being able to be called away from your normal duties at short notice if required.
  • Acting as a Mental Health Champion and participating in ad-hoc wellbeing events (when required and dependent on needs of the service).
  • Participating in post training support as required/directed.

Module 1: Understanding behaviour.

This is a recording of a PowerPoint presentation, accessed through YouTube. The recording is 30 minutes and can be accessed from any device with an internet connection at any time.

You will be sent a link to the recording, and a workbook which you can fill out as you go through the session.

A week after the session you will be sent an online quiz to complete and submit.

You will need to do this before booking on Module 2.

Important: This training is part of the COVID19 interim training programme and is suitable for new and existing staff.

It is recommended that new staff attend face to face training when available.
