Code: ASC/21/514 First Aid at Work Re-certification

A re-certification course for First Aiders with a current First Aid at Work certificate.

The Health and Safety Executive currently states:
FAW or EFAW certificates that expired after 16 March 2020 can remain valid until 31 October 2020 or 6 months from date of expiry, whichever is later. All requalification training for these certificates should be completed by 31 March 2021.
Therefore, if your certificate has already expired, you will be required to complete the 3 day First Aid at Work training course to re-qualify.

First Aiders whose certificates are still valid should attend the training up to 3 months before the expiry date of their certificate or 28 days afterwards. The new certificate will then take effect from the date of expiry. Please note for those attending during the 28 days after expiry, first aid cannot be administered beyond the date of expiry of the appropriate first aid certificate, until the member of staff has re-qualified. Anyone unable to renew their qualification during that period will need to attend a full First Aid at Work 18 hour course.

The last day of a re-certification course should be no more than 28 days after the certificate expiry date

All Delegates need to physically attend the course in a classroom setting at the venue. This is NOT delivered as an online distance learning course.

Note: This course requires a demonstration of competency in administering CPR, which involves kneeling on the floor beside an anatomical dummy. If you are unable to work on the floor to perform CPR you will not be permitted to undertake this course.

IMPORTANT: Due to Covid19 restrictions, delegates must bring hand sanitiser and wear a face covering at all times when in communal areas of the venue; and if requested by the Trainer. No delegate should attend if they are showing signs or symptoms of Covid19, or have been in close contact with a Covid19 patient within 14 days.

This course will be reviewed in light of any change in current lockdown arrangements and delegates will be contacted as necessary.
