This focussed programme aims to develop manager’s knowledge, skills and confidence to enable them to fully integrate a coaching approach into the daily management of staff and projects in order to operate effectively, promote a culture of empowerment and engagement and to support creativity in a challenging business environment.
 
A coaching approach is increasingly well evidenced across the business community and public sector as an appropriate and successful leadership style, creating a ‘win-win’ effect, where staff are motivated and engaged, and work can be successfully devolved, freeing up valuable management time and resources.

Code: LSC600 ESSCP : Working with Children and Young People who Display Harmful Sexual Behaviours (EVENT FULL)

To enable participants to identify, understand and work with sexually harmful behaviours in children and young people. This course is aimed at all front line professionals, including managers; from East Sussex County Council Children’s Services Social Care, Early Help, Children’s Services Education, Adult Services, Youth Offending Team, East Sussex Schools, Police, Health, Probation and the Voluntary and Independent sectors.

Important note: It is essential that you have undertaken the Safeguarding Children e-learning and the Introduction Child Sexual Abuse Modules 1 & 2 prior to coming on this course (see additional information under full details), or you may be turned away.

Code: ASC/19/762 Moving & Handling for PAs who do not undertake Personal Care Duties (Cancelled)

This is a 1/2 day Manual Handling training aimed at Personal Assistants who do not undertake personal care or use moving and handling equipment within the home setting.

The session covers lower level assistance and should be attended by all PAs.

The course covers:

  • General household duties as well as assistance outside the home environment
  • Basic knowledge of legislation relating to manual handling of objects and assisting people in the community
  • General manual handling of objects such as rubbish bags and shopping
  • Assisting to stand
  • Support when walking/handling belt
  • Sitting turn aids (turntable)
  • Transfer boards (banana board)
  • Dressing aids
  • Pushing a wheelchair
  • Getting wheelchairs into and out of a car.

This course has a large practical element so participants attending should be fit, dressed appropriately and able to fully participate.

Footwear should be flat/ low heel and closed in toes. No flipflops. Failure to participate or inappropriate dress or footwear will be reported to Support With Confidence.

Some elements of this course will be undertaken outside if the weather permits.

Introduction and overview of manual handling of inanimate objects.

Important information: For the practical element of this training participants attending should be fit, dressed appropriately and able to fully participate. Footwear should be flat/ low heel with closed in toes. Flipflops/summer sandals are not appropriate. Please note that if delegates are not wearing appropriate footwear, they may be turned away from the course by the trainer, and a charge will be made for the wasted place.

The course will use real life cases the trainer has personally been involved in acting for Local Authorities. By the end of the course delegates will be able to understand and explain :

- how the Council can be liable in health and safety law

- how individuals can be liable in health and safety law

- how their own conduct and decision making, and that of their colleagues, can shape the potential liability of the council

- some of the key health and safety risks that the council faces such as outsourcing and driving and how these can be best managed to minimise prospective liability

- what good health and safety leadership looks like having regard to guidance and the trainer’s personal experiences working for Local Authorities
