Code: ASC/20/132 Assisting the Fallen Person

This course is aimed at all levels of care and support workers who may find a person who has fallen.

The course is ½ day covering assessment of the fallen person using a series of checks to assess for injury. The questions can also be used for information gathering prior to an ambulance arrival for the injured person. This is in line with the I-stumble protocols and app.

For the uninjured person, the course covers how to assist with self-help from the floor and the use of a lifting cushion, lifting chair or a hoist.

This course has a large practical element.

The course covers:

  • Fallen person checks
  • Additional information relating to fractures which may not have been covered in basic first aid training
  • Pain assessment
  • Body checks
  • History taking
  • Practicals in scenario style for body checking
  • Decision making for self-help or equipment use
  • Practical use of Mangar Elk and hoisting from floor.

This is the first of a 2 part training relating to falls, it is recommended that candidates also attend the second half day Assisting the Fallen Person training. This is running on the same day at the same venue and should be applied for separately via the learning portal.

 

This course is suitable for all staff working with people in the community who, as part of their role, are required to:

· Identify adults at risk of falls

· Assess/review adults who have fallen or are at risk of falling

This course covers general report writing and letter writing skills. You will learn about the structure and layout of reports and letters as well as understand the development steps you will use to write a report or letter. The course also covers how to use the correct tone in report and letter writing as well as identifying common grammar, spelling and punctuation errors and finally takes a look at how to proofread your writing effectively.

Code: ASC/20/57 Safeguarding Adults: Making Safeguarding Enquiries for Lead Enquiry Officers(LEOs)

This one day course is for operational staff in ESCC Adult Social Care Services who may be asked to make or contribute to a safeguarding enquiry under Section 42 of the Care Act 2014, and will include; the Local Authority's duty under s42 of the Care Act 2014; planning an enquiry; involving the adult – using a Making Safeguarding Personal approach; completing an enquiry.
 
This is for staff, new to ESCC or new to the role of making enquiries. Staff who have previously completed Enquiry Officer / Enquiry Manager training do not need to attend as the course content is very similar.
 
Staff will need to have completed a Safeguarding Adults Basic Awareness training session before attending this 1 day course.
 
PLEASE NOTE: LAS (Liquid Logic Adults) Safeguarding Adults Training has been arranged to follow on from this LEO training. If you have not already completed this mandatory training prior to attending this LEO course you can book onto the LAS training in the usual way, via the East Sussex Learning Portal. Log in and select the ‘Adult Social Care’ channel, then click ‘Training and Development’ and in the Search field type ‘LAS Safeguarding’ and the courses will be listed. Courses are free of charge.

SharePoint is a half day of training for East Sussex County Council users to familiarise themselves with the SharePoint platform.
This course is for anyone joining an ESCC team that uses Sharepoint libraries to store team information and who has not used Sharepoint before. The course will also cover managing your own Onedrive site used for storing personal documentation.
