This live interactive virtual classroom is delivered through Microsoft Teams.

This popular course is essential for practitioners from Children's Services and Adult Social Care, education, early help, the police and health, to review, update and consolidate core knowledge about domestic abuse.

This two day ‘professional level’ workshop is part of the domestic abuse thematic learning pathway and will give an overarching and updated view on current research, theory and practice in the field. It is relevant for all East Sussex Children's Services practitioners working with children, young people and families assessed as level 3 or 4 on the Continuum of Need.

Important note: You will need to have undertaken all three foundation level domestic abuse e-Learning modules prior to attending this course (see additional information under full details and links) or you may be turned away. You will also need to attend the full two days in order to get your certificate.

Code: ASC/22/534 Assisting Clients with Swallowing Difficulties Level 1 Part 1 - Covid19 Interim Training Programme (Cancelled)

This course will be delivered via Online Recorded Video, and you will not be expected to attend a specific venue.

Important: This training is part of the Covid19 interim training programme and is suitable for new and existing staff. It is recommended that new staff attend face to face training when available.

This is part 1 of a two part blended learning training program to be used to reduce face to face training time in accordance with COVID 19 regulations.

This must be completed and the workbook assessed prior to undertaking Part 2 of Level 1 or other levels of training in this topic.
Part 1 of the training can be completed as a standalone course for theory only.

The course takes approximately 1 hour to complete the viewing of the presentation from YouTube and the completion of a workbook.

The workbook will be assessed and returned the following week.

The presentation covers:

• What dysphagia is
• Clients most likely to be diagnosed
• Introduction to the different textures prescribed
• Introduction to the thickeners used
• How to test for correct thicknesses
• Complications if the prescription is not followed correctly.

You will be sent a link to a resource and also a link for the workbook on Microsoft forms via email, so it’s vital that you give us your correct email address if it differs from the one on your East Sussex Learning Portal user account.

Links are not to be shared between colleagues; each person who wishes to complete this training MUST book their own place on it. The Microsoft form must be completed.

Your completed workbook/Microsoft form should be submitted no later than 10 am of the Friday after you receive the course information.
Submissions received after this time will not be marked and your training record will not be updated to show completion of this course. Only the first submission will be looked at. Please do not submit more than once. Ann will assess your submission and send summative feedback.

Your East Sussex Learning Portal user account will be updated to show completion of this training once your workbook has been marked.
Please look out for an email to complete session evaluation. We would appreciate your time in completing this so we can evaluate this temporary process. You will then be able to access your certificate online.

Code: ASC/22/625 Emergency First Aid at Work PAs and ESCC DPS Staff (face to face training) (c) (EVENT FULL)

This course will be delivered via In-Person Classroom training. You will be expected to attend a specific venue on the date(s) of the training. Please see the course full details and attached map for further information. 

If you are a lone worker you may find it useful to have this accreditation in order to deal with First Aid situations that may arise when you are in someone’s home or accompanying clients in public places.

Note: * All Delegates need to physically attend the course in a classroom setting at the venue. This is NOT delivered as an online distance learning course.

The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 require employers to provide adequate and appropriate equipment, facilities and personnel to enable first-aid to be given to employees if they are injured or become ill at work. These regulations apply to all workplaces including those with five or fewer employees and to the self-employed.

Note: This course requires a demonstration of competency in administering CPR, which involves kneeling on the floor beside an anatomical dummy. If you are unable to work on the floor to perform CPR you will not be permitted to undertake this course.

IMPORTANT: Due to Covid19 restrictions, delegates must bring hand sanitiser and wear a face covering at all times when in communal areas of the venue; and if requested by the Trainer. The programme content is based on the BILD accredited PROACT SCIPr-UK curriculum and follows a 70-20-10 Proactive-Active-Reactive model of support. Active and Reactive strategies include some physical techniques. Day 2 includes a knowledge assessment and participants are assessed for competency in demonstrating physical techniques.

Sharepoint 2013 training  is a 2 hour remote hands on session for East Sussex County Council users to familiarise themselves with the Sharepoint and OneDrive platform. This course is for anyone joining an ESCC team that uses Sharepoint libraries to store team information and who has not used Sharepoint before. The course will also cover managing your own OneDrive site used for storing personal documentation.


Training sessions are conducted via Microsoft Teams, please reserve the time in your diary.


You should assure yourself of the suitability of the learning environment from which you will access the online course. In order to focus on the learning content, you will need to access the session from a quiet location where you will not be disturbed. If it is not possible to do this within the office then you should select an alternative location/room that is more suitable, by agreement with your manager.


In order for you to be able to attend you will need to ensure that you are using an ESCC device that has a microphone and video capabilities.

The aim of this course is to inform Adult Social Care operational staff of the benefits and options available in relation to Telecare service provision. Please note that this course focusses on the equipment that is available and not the prescribing (ordering) process.

Delegates will be guided through the various forms of equipment available to clients along with details of who this will benefit most and any considerations that should be taken into account when prescribing this equipment.

Focus will also be given to the importance of identifying clients at risk of accidental fires and how they can be best supported via the addition of linked smoke alarms.

Attendees require no prior knowledge of the telecare service and this training will be beneficial to both new staff and existing staff that require refresher training.
