Code: ASC/20/606 Assisting the Fallen Person – Covid19 Interim Training Programme

IMPORTANT: THIS TRAINING IS PART OF THE COVID19 INTERIM TRAINING PROGRAMME AND IS SUITABLE FOR NEW AND EXISTNG STAFF.

IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT NEW STAFF ATTEND FACE TO FACE TRAINING WHEN AVAILABLE.

You will be sent a link to a resource and also a workbook via email, so it’s vital that you give us your correct email address if it differs from the one on your East Sussex Learning Portal user account
Workbooks are not to be shared between colleagues; each person who wishes to complete this training MUST book their own place on it. Workbooks returned to the trainer by delegates who have not booked a place will NOT be marked
After completing the workbook please return it (via an email with answers typed or completed in PDF, saved and returned) for marking to ann.holland@eastsussex.gov.uk by no later than the Friday after you receive the workbook.
Please don’t hesitate to email Ann with any questions about assisting the fallen person.
Ann will mark and return your workbook.
Your East Sussex Learning Portal user account will be updated to show completion of this training once your workbook has been marked.
Please look out for an email to complete session evaluation. We would appreciate your time in completing this so we can evaluate this temporary process. You will then be able to access your certificate online.

In this particularly challenging time, this course is designed to provide managers with some space, to think and reflect on the impact of Covid 19, for both you and your staff. This virtual workshop will give you an opportunity to consider how to continue to support your supervisees through the use of tools, discussion, sharing and practice.

This course is suitable for all ESCC DPS support workers who support people who have epilepsy.

Please note:

This session includes an assessment of competence in a training environment (measuring a 1ml dose and administering to the buccal cavity on a colleague).

Following this training and BEFORE administering Buccal Midazolam:

It is the manager’s responsibility to ensure that the staff member understands each individual client’s care plan /support profile regarding the administration and use of Buccal Midazolam. The manager needs to sign the attendance certificate to show this part of the competency assessment has been carried out.

This course covers the safe administration of medicines within social care settings.

The first part of the course will cover the knowledge required to administer medicines and refers to medicine legislation, professional standards and guidance.

The second part of the day covers the basic practical skills required in order to be assessed as competent to administer medicines under the good practice guidance.
