You will be sent a First Aid manual and workbook via email, so it’s vital that you give us your correct email address if it differs from the one on your East Sussex Learning Portal user account.

Workbooks are not to be shared between colleagues; each person who wishes to complete this training MUST book their own place on it. Workbooks returned to the trainer by delegates who have not booked a place will NOT be marked.

After reading the First Aid manual, please complete the Microsoft forms workbook by no later than the 10 am Thursday after you receive the manual.

Submissions received after this time will not be marked and your training record will not be updated to show completion of this course. Please only submit once as only the first submission will be looked at.
Ann will assess your submission and send summative feedback to you.

Your East Sussex Learning Portal user account will be updated to show completion of this training once your workbook has been marked.

Code: ASC/22/317 Dementia Awareness (Tiers 1 and 2) Module 1 (EVENT FULL)

This course will be delivered via Online Recorded Video and you will not be expected to attend a specific venue.

This is a foundation level online course and must be completed to attend other dementia related courses that explore specific aspects of dementia in more detail (eg. behaviour, reablement, communication and interaction, activities). This course is aimed at all frontline staff to increase their awareness and knowledge of people who are experiencing dementia.

The course is delivered via a recorded PowerPoint presentation which has been uploaded on the ESCC YouTube Channel. The course can be accessed over a 5-day period providing flexibility for the learner. There are various activities and case studies to engage the learner. The course requires the completion and return of a workbook which serves to foster a deeper level of learning.

The video (YouTube) can be viewed on all digital platforms (including mobile phone) and can be viewed independently or as a small group (dependent on organisational social distancing policy) so please ensure you have YouTube installed.

This is a remotely delivered course and delegates should therefore ignore any map or venue information.

After completion of the training, please look out for an email to complete session evaluation. We would appreciate your time in completing this so we can evaluate this process. You will then be able to access your certificate.

Code: LSC754 ESSCP: Safeguarding Adults who are Parents/Carers of Children and Young People (Cancelled)

This face to face classroom course, will enable participants to:

  • Identify the 10 types of abuse and neglect that adults could experience. 
  • Explore risk factors and how an adult's vulnerability can impact on their parenting.
  • Begin to explore the concept of Mental Capacity and the challenges in assessing it.
  • Consider current policy and legislation.
  • Understand the procedures and your role in raising a concern and sharing information with the Local Authority.

Important note: It is essential that you have undertaken the Safeguarding Children and Young People e-learning, or an equivalent within your own organisation, prior to coming on this course (see additional information under full details), or you may be turned away.

Code: ASC/22/362 Moving and Handling of People for Care Support Workers, Volunteers and PAs - Foundation Part 2 (practical face to face session) (c)

This course will be delivered via In-Person Classroom training. You will be expected to attend a specific venue on the date(s) of the training. Please see the course full details and attached map for further information.

When requesting a place on this course, you must allow 3 weeks between the dates of Part 1 and Part 2 to allow for the workbook to be completed, returned to the Trainer and marked. When you book Part 2 please provide us with the date Part 1 was completed in the Special Requirements field on your booking form. If Part 1 has not been completed, your place on Part 2 will not be confirmed.

To adhere to Covid19 regulations this face to face course will be small groups with PPE masks, aprons and gloves provided.

The course is 2.5 hours long and will cover practical elements of:

  • Mobility testing
  • Sit to stand techniques
  • Assisting from chair to chair
  • Assisting in and out of bed, including the use of bed levers, bed pulls, non-slip slide sheets, leg lifters, utilising the profiling mattress
  • Walking aids
  • Assisting to walk techniques
  • Handling belts
  • Assisting clients on steps and stairs
  • Sliding boards
  • Turning aids
  • Dressing aids
  • Wheelchairs, including placing a wheelchair into a car.

Please specify on your application if you are new to care work and haven’t completed a practical moving and handling training, so priority can be given to your application.

 This venue has a current Covid19 risk assessment. Any delegates showing Covid19 symptoms must not attend the training venue.
