Workbooks are not to be shared between colleagues; each person who wishes to complete this training MUST book their own place on it. Workbooks returned to the trainer by delegates who have not booked a place will NOT be marked

After reading the First Aid manual, please complete the workbook and return it (via an email with answers typed or completed in PDF, saved and returned) for marking to ann.holland@eastsussex.gov.uk by no later than the Thursday after you receive the manual.

Workbooks received after this time will not be marked and your training record will not be updated to show completion of this course.

Your East Sussex Learning Portal user account will be updated to show completion of this training once your workbook has been marked.

Code: ASC/21/391 Deaf and Hard of Hearing Awareness

This online training course is aimed at all frontline staff to increase their awareness, knowledge and skills in relation to working with people who are deaf or hard of hearing. 

The course is designed to raise awareness of the barriers facing people who are deaf or are hard of hearing. It also highlights how practitioners can adjust their behaviour and create conducive environments to improve communication with people who are deaf or are hard of hearing.

The course is delivered via a pre-recorded (voice over) Powerpoint presentation which can be viewed multiple times. There are also various activities and a case study to engage the learner. The course requires the completion and return of a workbook which serves to foster a deeper level of learning. 

The video (YouTube) can be viewed on all digital platforms (including mobile phone) and can be viewed independently or as a small group (dependent on organisational social distancing policy) so please ensure you have YouTube installed.

The course also contains video links to the internet; thus, internet access is required. 

The workbook comes in a Word document format so access to Microsoft Word is required.

Handouts are provided in PDF format which are accessible via a screen reader if required.

Delegates on this training will be emailed all necessary resources by the trainer. Ideally each delegate should have their own personal/work email address on their East Sussex Learning Portal user account. Where this is not possible, please be advised that it is the responsibility of each training delegate’s line manager to forward these documents to them, so they have them in time for their training.

The course can be accessed from 9.30am on the date scheduled. Delegates can complete the course at any time during the week but must submit the workbook by 5pm on the Friday after the scheduled course date.


Allocate approx. 2-4 hrs to complete the course. Speed of course completion depends on the learner.

This training course builds on the previous levels with an emphasis on working with staff, partners and customers in an inclusive way. It is suitable for managers, commissioners and aspiring managers.

Public sector organisations have a responsibility under law to provide services and support their community and workforce in a way that drives forward equality and inclusion.

Employees must develop an awareness of equality, diversity and inclusion to help them meet the needs of a diverse customer base and workforce, they need to be clear about best practice, and make their own commitment to this agenda within their roles.

All delegates must have completed the Equality and Diversity elearning session prior to attending this course.

LAS Search and View is a half day of training for East Sussex County Council users to familiarise themselves with the Adults Liquid Logic platform. This course is designed to show you how to navigate Liquid Logic, find clients and view case data and includes viewing scanned images held within ECaseFile

This course is for anyone joining an ESCC team that uses LAS whether to view client data or input data into the system

As a new staff member your manager must request that a Liquid Logic account is created for you before attending this course. When the account is created you will receive an e-mail invitation to book onto this course. Existing users are welcome to book if they wish to refresh their skills.

You must complete this training in order to be able to access the LIVE system. The trainer will activate your account on attendance.

This workshop is aimed at all ESCC staff working in the Mental Health Service.

In response to Covid 19 and the extra stress and strain this has put on Mental Health services, we are offering 12 workshops specifically for you.

The workshops will explore the impact of the past 12 months and give you the opportunity for some space to think and reflect.

We will explore how hard it is to remain positive during this prolonged period of uncertainty and consider how neuroscience can help.

It will also be a time to share with colleagues and learn from each other about tips and tricks for sustaining your wellbeing.

Finally, there will be a chance to consider your own self-care and explore a range of resources available.
