Code: ESC/19/434 Emergency First Aid at Work Level 3 (1 Day) (EVENT FULL)

The Emergency First Aid at Work course is covered over 6 hours. It provides an excellent introduction to the basic principles of First Aid, and trains you to take control of a first aid situation in the workplace in the absence of a fully trained First Aider (see First Aid at Work).

The course tutor will assess you throughout the course, through multiple choice papers and observations. Upon completion, First Aid Awards will provide a certificate.

Your certificate will last for 3 years.

One day manual handling training for Occupational Therapy Assistants

This one day course is aimed at Occupational Therapy Assistants to develop their role as assessors and in support work to the Occupational Therapy service.

It covers:

A basic knowledge of key legislation affecting the manual handling of people, anatomy of the spine and how to reduce the risk of spinal injury by implementing safe lifting principles.

Basic knowledge of sitting posture.

Understanding the requirements and importance of risk assessments and moving and handling plans;

Risk assessing issues in relation to at-risk equipment e.g. bed side rails.

Knowledge of a range of safe manual handling assisted mobility techniques, i.e. assisted standing, walking, getting in and out of a
bed.

Basic Ability testing.


A familiarisation of manual handling equipment including walking aids, assisted standing equipment, slings, hoists and slide sheets and their safe
use.

For the practical element participants attending should be fit, dressed appropriately and able to fully participate. Footwear should be flat/ low heel and closed in toes. No flipflops.
