Code: ASC/20/424 Completing individual risk assessing for the moving and handling of adults (Cancelled)

This one day course is aimed at key individuals within organisations that complete individual moving and handling risk assessments and plans for adult patients or carers.

The course aims to further develop their role as Manual Handling risk assessors to:

  • Ensure that risk assessments completed are balanced, person centred, fit for purpose, optimise clients abilities
  • Demonstrate clear reasoning of the risks that have been identified and how and why decisions have been reached to reduce them.

It covers:

  • Legislation that impacts and frames the manual handling risk assessments
  • Good practice in assessing risks
  • Demonstrating a balanced risk assessment approach
  • How to write a risk assessment and a concise MH plan.

There will be some case scenarios to work through.

Please note:

  • This course does not cover generic moving and handling risk assessments of objects
  • Staff should not have attended the ESCC 4 day Moving and Handling train the trainer as this course covers Moving and Handling Risk Assessment.

For the practical element participants attending should be fit, dressed appropriately and able to fully participate. Footwear should be flat/ low heel and closed in toes. No flipflops.

This introduction & update to the DoLs safeguards is suitable for all staff directly or indirectly involved in registered accommodation (public or independent sector) or hospital wards and for staff working in adult social care in respect of ‘Community Dols’

 

 


PLEASE NOTE: The legal system for DoLS is planned to change to ‘Liberty Protection Safeguards’ (LPS) in late 2020. This current training WILL NOT include in any detail, the new legislation. Additional training on the new Law will be provided in the near future.

The Emergency First Aid at Work course is covered over 6 hours. It provides an excellent introduction to the basic principles of First Aid, and trains you to take control of a first aid situation in the workplace in the absence of a fully trained First Aider (see First Aid at Work).

The course tutor will assess you throughout the course, through multiple choice papers and observations. Upon completion, First Aid Awards will provide a certificate.

Your certificate will last for 3 years.

This course will enable participants to assess risk and to explore inter-agency responses to concerns regarding Fabricated Induced Illnesses. The course will cover making and/or receiving referrals regarding child care and child protection issues from staff in Children’s Social Care, Education, Schools, Early Years, PVI (Private, Voluntary Independent), Health, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), Mental Health Teams and Youth Offending Teams, who are working with children and families or staff from Adult Social Care/Mental Health working with adults who have children.

Important note: It is essential that you have undertaken the Safeguarding Children e-learning prior to coming on this course (see additional information under full details), or you may be turned away.
