This session will update BIAs on changes to case law, as well as aspects of the law that have changed because of the impact of Covid-19. Simon will also update BIAs about progress on the implementation of LPS.
There will also be an opportunity for individual BIAs to discuss practice legal dilemmas they have encountered and obtain feedback from Simon and their peers.

The First Aid at Work course, covered over 3 days, will qualify you as a First Aider and will enable you to deal with an accident or injury in the workplace. It will qualify you to diagnose a variety of possible illnesses and injuries and will enable you to assess the need to seek further medical attention.
At the end of the course there is a written exam and trainees must demonstrate the skills and knowledge learnt during the course, when there will be some hands on floor work. Trainees will receive a certificate at the end of the course and the qualification lasts for three years.

This course provides delegates with knowledge of safe moving and handling techniques and a basic knowledge of equipment they may need to use to safely move and handle a client. This course does not cover clients with restricted mobility issues, i.e. those who need hoisting or are cared for in bed.
Due to the practical nature of moving and handling of people, it is recommended when accessible, candidates complete the face to face training available through East Sussex County Council.
The course covers:
• A basic knowledge of key legislation affecting the moving and handling and care of objects and people
• Anatomy of the spine and how to reduce the risk of spinal injury by implementing safe handling principles
• The importance of good sitting posture
• Knowledge of a range of safe moving and handling assisted mobility techniques, i.e. assisted standing techniques
• Techniques to assist someone getting in and out of a bed.
There is also a link to a Microsoft form which must be completed following your attendance. This will be assessed by the trainer and summative feedback sent to you. Please complete the Microsoft form within 5 working days after the course date. Only your first submission will be looked at, so please only submit once.

It is recommended this course is completed before attending Moving and Handling of People with Restricted Mobility for Care Givers: Part 2 (face to face practical training).
This course is for care givers who assist and provide personal care for those clients with limited mobility, i.e. clients who are non-weight bearing, hoisted or spend prolonged periods in bed.
The course covers the following:
• Reflection on health and safety and care legislation relevant to moving and handling of people with complex needs
• Via videos we demonstrate a variety of equipment, including hoists and slings, stand aids and in-situ slide sheets
• We discuss various techniques for fitting slings with and without slide sheets
• We cover the effects that immobility has on the body, in relation to posture, tissue viability, circulation etc and the importance of ensuring clients sit in a functional postural position and are repositioned appropriately
• We discuss the needs of clients who have restricted mobility within bed or who may need to spend prolonged periods within the bed, covering equipment and techniques to assist with rolling, repositioning in bed, techniques to fit slings for clients who have limited ability or are unable to be rolled.

Sharepoint 2013 training is a 2 hour remote hands on session for East Sussex County Council users to familiarise themselves with the Sharepoint and OneDrive platform. This course is for anyone joining an ESCC team that uses Sharepoint libraries to store team information and who has not used Sharepoint before. The course will also cover managing your own OneDrive site used for storing personal documentation.
Training sessions are conducted via Microsoft Teams, please reserve the time in your diary.
You should assure yourself of the suitability of the learning environment from which you will access the online course. In order to focus on the learning content, you will need to access the session from a quiet location where you will not be disturbed. If it is not possible to do this within the office then you should select an alternative location/room that is more suitable, by agreement with your manager.
In order for you to be able to attend you will need to ensure that you are using an ESCC device that has a microphone and video capabilities.
