Code: ASC/20/336 Basic Epilepsy Awareness Training - for Learning Disability Services (non ESCC) ONLY (Cancelled)

This training is ONLY suitable for those working in a Learning Disability service. East Sussex County Council staff should not attend this training but should refer to the ESCC DPS ONLY courses.   
 
  •  At the end of the training, a Community Learning Disability Nurse will demonstrate how to administer emergency medication used in epilepsy and you will watch a DVD of safe administration of Buccal Midazolam. You will also have the opportunity to practice the administration of rectal diazepam.
    If you require the rectal Diazepam training, please contact the Adult Social Care training team at asct@eastsussex.gov.uk  to confirm this. There is specific equipment needed that will only be brought on courses where delegates have confirmed a need for rectal Diazepam training. 
  •  Your manager will be responsible for providing on going support in the workplace but it will be your responsibility to highlight any concerns you have regarding administration of the medication.
  •  A certificate of attendance will be provided; this is not a certificate of competence.

Code: ASC/20/598 Hoarding Awareness - online course - Covid19 Interim Training Programme

This course will enable learners to fully understand how hoarding affects people, empowering the learners to empathise with people suffering from Hoarding Disorder whilst exploring ways to develop skills for supporting clients to help themselves in how to overcome their inability to dispose of their belongings. The course will also include the current restrictions placed upon organisations working with people who hoard during COVID-19. 

The training will be delivered through Microsoft Teams in two sessions to allow for a break, starting 10.30 to 12.30 AM and 2.00 to 4.00PM.

Delegates must attend BOTH sessions to complete the course and receive their certificate.

Once your place on this event has been confirmed, you will receive a separate Outlook calendar invite with a link to the Microsoft Teams meeting. Please note this invite will be sent close to the day/time of the event. Please read the attached document "Attending our online Training" before joining the course.

Code: LSCW643 Live Webinar – ESSCP : Gangs, Youth Violence, Knives and Criminal Exploitation Awareness Training (EVENT FULL)

This FREE Zoom course replaces one of the postponed  March 2020 sessions. It is still a half day course, split into an a.m. and a p.m. session. The a.m. session runs from 11.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. and the p.m. session from 2.00 to 4.00 p.m

This course will address gang crime and youth violence. This has been identified as a national priority and this course will enable frontline staff and those working with children and young people to identify individuals at risk of gang involvement and to provide timely support and interventions to support them.

This course will be delivered by Excelsior Safeguarding CIC, a ‘not for profit’ organisation established to provide effective help and support to vulnerable young people and adults.

The sessions are relevant for colleagues who work with children and young people as well as vulnerable adults

It is essential that you have undertaken the Safeguarding Children (or an equivalent Safeguarding/ Child Protection Awareness course within your own organisation, and Child Sexual Exploitation e-learning courses prior to coming on this course, see additional information under full details), or you may be turned away.

Code: ASC/20/584 Moving and Handling of People with Restricted Mobility for Care Givers - Covid19 Interim Training Programme

IMPORTANT: THIS TRAINING IS PART OF THE FAST TRACK DISTANCE LEARNING DURING THE COVID-19 CRISIS AND IS SUITABLE FOR NEW AND EXISTNG STAFF. TRAINING WILL BE DELIVERED VIA A SKYPE MEETING AND YOU WILL BE SENT AN INVITE TO IT A
COUPLE OF DAYS BEFORE IT IS DUE. IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT ALL STAFF ATTEND FACE TO FACE TRAINING WHEN IT IS AVAILABLE. Please look out for an email to complete the session evaluation. We would appreciate your time in completing this so we can evaluate this temporary process. You will then be able to access your certificate via the learning portal.

NOTE: This course temporarily replaces the half day face to face Moving and Handling of People with Restricted Mobility for Care Givers. The 2 hour foundation level course replaces the previous 1 Day Moving and Handling of People (Residential & Domiciliary) and refresher training.

It is recommended the foundation course is completed before attending this restricted mobility course.

This course is for care givers who assist and provide personal care for those clients with limited mobility, i.e. clients who are non weight bearing, hoisted or spend prolonged periods in bed.

The course covers the following.

  • The course reflects back on health and safety and care legislation relevant to moving and handling of people with complex needs
  • Via videos we demonstrate a variety of equipment, including hoists and slings, stand aids and insitu slide sheets.
  • Via We discuss various techniques for fitting slings with and without slide sheets
  • We cover the effects that immobility has on the body, in relation to posture, tissue viability, circulation etc and the importance of ensuring
  • clients sit in a functional postural position and are repositioned appropriately
  • We discuss the needs of clients who have restricted mobility within bed or who may need to spend prolonged periods within the bed, covering equipment and techniques to assist with rolling, repositioning in bed, techniques to fit slings clients who have limited ability or are unable to be rolled
