Code: ASC/22/511 Assisting the Fallen Person (Part 1) (c)

This course will be delivered via Online Recorded Video, and you will not be expected to attend a specific venue.

This is a Distance Learning Course via presentation on YouTube and a Microsoft Form Quiz and takes approximately 2 hours to complete. 

For those without access to Microsoft forms a hard copy can be sent by special request. Please add this to the special requirements box on the portal when signing onto the course.

The course is the theory (Part 1), covering Assessment of the Fallen Person using a decision-making tool/check sheet to assess for injury and is there a need to call for an ambulance. The check sheet can also be used for information gathering prior to an ambulance arrival for the injured person.
For the uninjured or minor injury the course covers how to assist with self-help from the floor or when to call for and the use of a Elk lifting cushion, Felgains Lifting Chair or a Hoist.

This course has a no practical element.

The course covers:

• Fallen person check sheet
• Additional information relating to fractures which may not have been covered in basic first aid training
• Pain assessment
• Body checks
• History taking
• Practicals in scenario style for body checking included in the workbook
• Decision making for self-help or equipment use.

Code: ASC/22/1093 Completing Individual Risk Assessing for the Moving and Handling of Adults

This course will be delivered via In-Person Classroom training. You will be expected to attend a specific venue on the date(s) of the training. Please see the course full details and attached map for further information.

This one day course is aimed at key individuals within organisations that complete individual Moving and Handling risk assessments and plans for adult patients or carers. The course aims to further develop their role as Manual Handling Risk Assessors and ensure that risk assessments completed are balanced, person centred, fit for purpose, optimise clients abilities, and demonstrate clear reasoning of the risks that have been identified and how and why decisions have been reached to reduce them.

The course does not cover generic moving and handling risk assessments of objects.

Staff should not have attended the ESCC 4 day Moving and handling train the trainer, as this course cover Moving and Handling Risk Assessment.

It covers:

  • Legislation that impacts and frames the manual handling risk assessments
  • Good practice in assessing risks, demonstrating a balanced risk assessment approach
  • How to write a risk assessment and a concise Moving and Handling plan

There will be some case scenarios to work through.

Code: ASC/22/728 Dementia Module 2: A Person-Centred Approach to Care and Support in Dementia (Tier 2/3) (c)

This course will be delivered via Online Recorded Video, and you will not be expected to attend a specific venue.

It is highly recommended that delegates have already completed Dementia Awareness (Tiers 1 and 2) Module 1, as this course makes reference to some of the material from that course.

This is a Tier 2/3 course aimed at all staff who work directly with people experiencing dementia. The course is linked to the Dementia Training Standards Framework 2018: Subject 4: Person-centred dementia care.

The course is delivered via a Recorded PowerPoint presentation which has been uploaded on the ESCC YouTube Channel. The course can be accessed over a 5-day period providing flexibility for the learner. There are various activities and case studies to engage the learner. The course requires the completion and return of a workbook which serves to foster a deeper level of learning.

The video (YouTube) can be viewed on all digital platforms (including mobile phone) and can be viewed independently or as a small group (dependent on organisational social distancing policy) so please ensure you have YouTube installed.

This is a remotely delivered course and delegates should therefore ignore any map or venue information.

LAS Search and View is a half day of remote hands on training for East Sussex County Council users to familiarise themselves with the Adults (LAS) LiquidLogic platform. This course is designed to show you how to navigate LiquidLogic, find clients and view case data and includes viewing scanned/uploaded images held within ECaseFile

This course is for anyone joining an ESCC team that uses LAS whether to view client data or input data into the system.

As a new staff member your manager must request that a LiquidLogic account is created for you before attending this course. When the account is created you will receive an e-mail invitation to book onto this course. Existing users are welcome to book if they wish to refresh their skills.

You must complete this training in order to be able to access the LIVE system. The trainer will activate your account on attendance.

Training sessions are conducted via Microsoft Teams, please reserve the time in your diary.
You should assure yourself of the suitability of the learning environment from which you will access the online course. In order to focus on the learning content, you will need to access the session from a quiet location where you will not be disturbed. If it is not possible to do this within the office then you should select an alternative location/room that is more suitable, by agreement with your manager.
In order for you to be able to attend you will need to ensure that you are using an ESCC device that has a microphone and video capabilities.

On the date of your Safe Handling of Medication training, you will receive an email from tania.hudson@eastsussex.gov.uk with a link to a recorded presentation and a workbook. 

The link is on the ESCC YouTube channel and is by invitation only, so please don’t forward to colleagues. 

  • After viewing the 30 minute presentation, please complete the workbook and return for marking to tania.hudson@eastsussex.gov.uk  If possible on the same day 
  • The workbook has additional information and helpful links which may be useful to refer back to

  • Tania will mark and return your workbook.

Important: You must undertake competency assessments within the workplace before carrying out medication duties.  It is recommended that new staff attend face to face training when available.
