Code: ASC/19/765 Assisting the Fallen Person (EVENT FULL)

This course is aimed at all levels of care and support workers who may find a person who has fallen.

The course is ½ day covering assessment of the fallen person using a series of checks to assess for injury. The questions can also be used for information gathering prior to an ambulance arrival for the injured person. This is in line with the I-stumble protocols and app.

For the uninjured person, the course covers how to assist with self-help from the floor and the use of a lifting cushion, lifting chair or a hoist.

This course has a large practical element.

The course covers:

  • Fallen person checks
  • Additional information relating to fractures which may not have been covered in basic first aid training
  • Pain assessment
  • Body checks
  • History taking
  • Practicals in scenario style for body checking
  • Decision making for self-help or equipment use
  • Practical use of Mangar Elk and hoisting from floor.

Code: ASC/19/272 Effective Risk Management and Support Planning Workshop for Residential Managers (Cancelled)

This is a one day workshop for residential care managers, risk assessment leads and staff trainers.

The primary focus of the workshop is to support delegates to use a systematic, auditable approach to client related risk management.

The approach used demonstrates how to develop effective, accessible person centred support plans as a key tool in managing risk to individual clients.

The workshop provides an overview of residential services effective risk management systems and the legal and regulatory context for all provider risk management activity.

Delegates explore key aspects of risk management systems and the potential impact on clients, staff and the organisation if any facet of the risk management system breaks down.

The workshop covers hazard identification, risk assessment, identification of control measures with associated resources and the implementation of risk control measures that are effective and are contained in the individual's person centred support plan.

Delegates will work through a process that aims to improve the safety, health and wellbeing of clients and the staff who support them.

A range of processes, examples and templates will be used during the workshop which can be taken back to the workplace to assist in service improvements and to cascade training.

LAS Search and View is a half day of training for East Sussex County Council users to familiarise themselves with the Adults Liquid Logic platform. This course is designed to show you how to navigate Liquid Logic, find clients and view case data and includes viewing scanned images held within ECaseFile

This course is for anyone joining an ESCC team that uses LAS whether to view client data or input data into the system

As a new staff member your manager must request that a Liquid Logic account is created for you before attending this course. When the account is created you will receive an e-mail invitation to book onto this course. Existing users are welcome to book if they wish to refresh their skills.

You must complete this training in order to be able to access the LIVE system. The trainer will activate your account on attendance.

Code: ESQ/19/6 Standardisation Workshop for Care Certificate Assessors

THESE WORKSHOPS ARE DESIGNED TO SUPPORT THE ROLE OF ‘CARE CERTIFICATE ASSESSORS’ ON AN ON-GOING BASIS

 

They are suitable for line managers/seniors/trainers/workplace assessors who are already familiar with the Care Certificate and are assessing competencies of staff undertaking the Care Certificate. If you are new to assessing the Care Certificate it may be beneficial to attend a Care Certificate Introduction session prior to attending the standardisation workshop.


The Assessor is the person responsible for making the decision on whether the new member of staff has met the standards set out in the Care Certificate Skills for Care and Skills for Health
