The aim of the training is to inform delegates of the legal requirements for the safe management of asbestos.

This course will provide information on the risks associated with asbestos, and enable delegates to implement suitable and sufficient management systems, to ensure compliance with the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012.

There is particular reference to the duty holder and who that could be, the surveys available, what to expect in a survey and the asbestos management plan and its use and requirement.

Code: ASC/20/358 Moving and Handling and Risk Assessment of People: Train the Trainer (Cancelled)

This is a course for moving and handling trainers who directly train staff in safe moving and handling of people techniques and how to complete moving and handling of people risk assessments.

The course is an in-depth 4 day course, spread over 2-5 weeks.  Please note: not all days will necessarily be the same day of the week.

This course is specifically for the moving and handling training of people, NOT LOADS. 

Important information: For the practical element of this training participants attending should be fit, dressed appropriately and able to fully participate. Footwear should be flat/ low heel with closed in toes. Flipflops/summer sandals are not appropriate. Please note that if delegates are not wearing appropriate footwear, they may be turned away from the course by the trainer, and a charge will be made for the wasted place.

Code: ASC/20/525 Moving and Handling of People with Restricted Mobility for Care Givers (Covid19 Skype session)

IMPORTANT: THIS TRAINING IS PART OF THE FAST TRACK DISTANCE LEARNING DURING THE COVID-19 CRISIS AND IS SUITABLE FOR NEW AND EXISTNG STAFF. TRAINING WILL BE DELIVERED VIA A SKYPE MEETING AND YOU WILL BE SENT AN INVITE TO IT A
COUPLE OF DAYS BEFORE IT IS DUE. IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT ALL STAFF ATTEND FACE TO FACE TRAINING WHEN IT IS AVAILABLE. Please look out for an email to complete the session evaluation. We would appreciate your time in completing this so we can evaluate this temporary process. You will then be able to access your certificate via the learning portal.

NOTE: This 2  hour course temporarily replaces the half day face to face Moving and Handling of People with Restricted Mobility for Care Givers. The 2 hour foundation level course replaces the previous 1 Day Moving and Handling of People (Residential & Domiciliary) and refresher training.

It is recommended the foundation course is completed before attending this restricted mobility course.

This course is for care givers who assist and provide personal care for those clients with limited mobility, i.e. clients who are non weight bearing, hoisted or spend prolonged periods in bed.

  •  The course reflects back on health and safety and care legislation relevant to moving and handling of people with complex needs
  •  Via videos we demonstrate a variety of equipment, including hoists and slings, stand aids and insitu slide sheets.
  •  We discuss various techniques for fitting slings with and without slide sheets
  •  We cover the effects that immobility has on the body, in relation to posture, tissue viability, circulation etc and the importance of ensuring
     clients sit in a functional postural position and are repositioned appropriately
  •  We discuss the needs of clients who have restricted mobility within bed or who may need to spend prolonged periods within the bed,    covering equipment and techniques to assist with rolling, repositioning in bed, techniques to fit slings and dress clients who have limited  ability or are unable to be rolled.
