Code: ASC/21/1168 Induction to the Level 3 Unit: Provide Support to Maintain and Develop Skills for Everyday Life - Covid19 Interim Training Programme

This level 3 certificated course is part of the new reablement training pathway open to reablement support workers.

Prior to starting this course participants are required to have completed the following;

  • Care Certificate
  • Moving and Handling
  • Core Principles of Reablement
  • REAP OT Reablement and Activity Analysis (Part 1 & 2 )
  • Pre course interview

In the six weeks following the course induction participants will be required to complete 3 virtual training sessions which cover the required underpinning knowledge.

Participants will also be given support to gather evidence including a completed workbook, learning log, reflective journal and expert witness testimonies to demonstrate achievement of the Level 3 Unit: Provide Support to Maintain and Develop Skills for Everyday Life.

The training will be delivered through Microsoft TEAMS. Once your place on this event has been confirmed, you will receive a separate Outlook calendar invite with a link to the first TEAMS meeting. LAS Search and View is a half day of training for East Sussex County Council users to familiarise themselves with the Adults Liquid Logic platform. This course is designed to show you how to navigate Liquid Logic, find clients and view case data and includes viewing scanned images held within ECaseFile

This course is for anyone joining an ESCC team that uses LAS whether to view client data or input data into the system

As a new staff member your manager must request that a Liquid Logic account is created for you before attending this course. When the account is created you will receive an e-mail invitation to book onto this course. Existing users are welcome to book if they wish to refresh their skills.

You must complete this training in order to be able to access the LIVE system. The trainer will activate your account on attendance.

This is a 4 day Moving and Handling and Risk Assessment Train the Trainer Course. There are 4 sessions held as follows:

* 2 sessions are via MS TEAMS (Days 1 and 3)
and
* 2 are face to face (Days 2 and 4)

Session 1 - Theory, legislation, lifting principles etc 4 hour session via MS TEAMS
Session 2 - Face to face – equipment familiarisation and techniques face to face 7 Hours
Session 3 - Risk assessment theory 3 hours via MS TEAMS
Session 4 - Equipment and techniques, test and presentations, face to face 7 hours
This course is specifically for the manual handling training of people, not loads. It is geared to people who supervise, induct and/ or train staff in moving and handling of clients.

The course covers:

• Key legislation affecting the manual handling of people, anatomy of the spine and how to reduce the risk of spinal injury including Biomechanics principles
• The importance of individual client centred risk assessments, how to complete them and moving and handling plans
• A range of safe manual handling manoeuvres and techniques
• Ability testing
• Manual handling equipment including assisted standing equipment, hoists and slide sheets
• The learning styles and principles to become an effective teacher and assess staff competencies in the work place.

The course requires candidates to complete a risk assessment, deliver a teaching presentation and pass a written test.

This 2.5 hrs virtual refresher workshop will be delivered via Microsoft Teams and is aimed at staff who work with adults with care and support needs, who need to know the basics of safeguarding, legal responsibilities and good practice. It is designed to update knowledge and skills of staff who have already completed the Safeguarding Basic Awareness E-learning course in line with the Care Act 2014 and the Sussex Multi Agency Policy and Procedures.
