This course is aimed at those who care and provide moving and handling assistance for people with dementia. The course looks at the challenges and issues that can arise when helping someone with dementia to move and transfer.
The course covers:
* Symptoms of dementia that affect mobility and movement
* The differences between violence, aggression, anxiety and fear and factors influencing the above
* Behaviour in dementia, focusing on non verbal, verbal and physical. Possible reasons and triggers for such behaviour
* Triggers that can be linked to behaviour specific to moving and handling techniques and strategies; and interventions that can be utilised to reduce distress, including equipment and handling techniques
* Risk assessing for those with dementia and fluctuating ability.
Part of the course is practical so participants attending should be fit, dressed appropriately and able to fully participate. Footwear should be flat/ low heel and closed in toes. No flipflops.
This venue has a current Covid19 risk assessment. Any delegates showing Covid19 symptoms must not attend the training venue.

When requesting a place on this course, you must allow 3 weeks between the dates of Part 1 and Part 2 to allow for the workbook to be completed, returned to the Trainer and marked. When you book Part 2 please provide us with the date Part 1 was completed in the Special Requirements field on your booking form. If Part 1 has not been completed, your place on Part 2 will not be confirmed.
