Code: ASC/20/8 Effective Risk Management and Support Planning Workshop for Home Care Managers (Cancelled)

This is a one day workshop for home care provider managers, risk assessment leads and staff trainers.

The primary focus of the workshop is to support delegates to use a systematic, auditable approach to client related risk management.

The approach used demonstrates how to develop effective, accessible person centred support plans as a key tool in managing risk to individual clients.

The workshop provides an overview of home care services effective risk management systems and the legal and regulatory context for all provider risk management activity.

Delegates explore key aspects of risk management systems and the potential impact on clients, staff and the organisation if any facet of the risk management system breaks down.

The workshop covers hazard identification, risk assessment, identification of control measures with associated resources and the implementation of risk control measures that are effective and are contained in the individual's person centred support plan.

Delegates will work through a process that aims to improve the safety, health and wellbeing of clients and the staff who support them.

A range of processes, examples and templates will be used during the workshop which can be taken back to the workplace to assist in service improvements and to cascade training.

This 2 day course will re-qualify you as a First Aider in the workplace. The course is for those who wish to renew their First Aid at Work qualification. First aiders should attend the training up to 3 months before the expiry date of their certificate or within 28 days of the expiry date.
 
 
Please note your certificate will be valid from the date of achievement and not from your previous expiry date.
 
 
Anyone unable to renew their qualification during that period will need to attend a full First Aid at Work 18 hour course.

This training is aimed at Assessment and Care Management staff to help workers identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses.

The MHFA Standard course is split up into 4 sections:

Code: ASC/20/125 Moving & Handling for PAs who do not Undertake Personal Care Duties

This is a 1/2 day manual handling training aimed at Personal Assistants who do not undertake personal care or use moving and handling equipment within the home setting.

The session covers lower level assistance and should be attended by all PAs.

The course covers:

  • General household duties as well as assistance outside the home environment
  • Basic knowledge of legislation relating to manual handling of objects and assisting people in the community
  • General manual handling of objects such as rubbish bags and shopping
  • Assisting to stand
  • Support when walking/handling belt
  • Sitting turn aids (turntable)
  • Transfer boards (banana board)
  • Dressing aids
  • Pushing a wheelchair
  • Getting wheelchairs into and out of a car.

This course has a large practical element so participants attending should be fit, dressed appropriately and able to fully participate.

Footwear should be flat/ low heel and closed in toes. No flipflops. Failure to participate or inappropriate dress or footwear will be reported to Support With Confidence.

Some elements of this course will be undertaken outside if the weather permits.

Code: ASC/20/126 Moving and Handling of Objects (EVENT FULL)

Introduction and overview of manual handling of inanimate objects.

Important information: For the practical element of this training participants attending should be fit, dressed appropriately and able to fully participate. Footwear should be flat/ low heel with closed in toes. Flipflops/summer sandals are not appropriate. Please note that if delegates are not wearing appropriate footwear, they may be turned away from the course by the trainer, and a charge will be made for the wasted place.
