“Infancy remains the period of highest risk for serious and fatal child maltreatment” (Complexity and Challenge: a triennial analysis of serious case reviews 2014-2017, Brandon et al 2020)

Local and national learning tells us that babies and young children are particularly vulnerable to abuse and neglect. Following a number of serious case reviews locally, involving babies and young children, the East Sussex Safeguarding Children Partnership decided to focus on ‘safeguarding Under 5s’ as one of its key priorities. This virtual event is being run in collaboration with Brighton & Hove and West Sussex Safeguarding Children Partnership’s as an opportunity to share and learn from colleagues across the Sussex area.

The event will include a number of external national speakers on key safeguarding under 5s topics.

Safeguarding Under 5s is everyone’s business. This conference is open to all staff who work with children and families. It is important that all agencies are represented and engaged with this conference.

This is a live interactive Virtual Conference, delivered through Microsoft Teams.

Important note: It is essential that you have undertaken the Safeguarding Children and Young People e-learning prior to coming on this course (see additional information under full details), or you may be turned away.
