This focussed session provides an opportunity for frontline staff, including managers, to meet with representatives from the Appointee and Deputyship Team to discuss a case or seek general advice, support and guidance relating to Appointee and Deputyship at East Sussex.

A minute taker will also attend the session to capture what was discussed and agreed, and any follow up actions.

Any follow up actions from the Appointee and Deputyship Team will be communicated via email.

Important: This course is for all levels of Care and Support Workers who may find a person who has fallen. You must have completed Assisting the Fallen Person (Part 1) – Covid19 Interim Training Programme before undertaking the Practical (Part 2) Session which can be carried out on providers own premises.

This course - Assisting the Fallen Person (Part 2) Practical use of Assistance Equipment is for the practical use of a Elk lifting cushion, Felgains lifting chair or a hoist. This course has a large practical element.

The course covers:

* Scenario based use of the Fallen Person Check Sheet
* Body checks
* History taking
* Practical in scenario style for body checking
* Decision making for self-help or equipment use
* Practical use of the Mangar Elk and hoisting from the floor or any lifting equipment located in individual services.

This session focuses on the phenomenon of meltdowns and shutdowns which are commonly experienced by autistic people at every age and will offer information on what causes them, how to reduce the chances of them and how to support an autistic young person before, during and after a meltdown or shutdown.

Code: ASC/22/910 Medication elearning for Personal Assistants Supporting People in their own homes ONLY (certificate valid for 2 years)

Please ignore any session dates for this learning. This is an elearning module that can be completed throughout the current month.

Delegates must complete this learning within the month they are applying. If you do not think you will have time to complete it within the current month, you should make a request for the training on a future month.

This Medication elearning is aimed at Personal Assistants supporting people in their own homes. The certificate is valid for two years for Support with Confidence applicants and members.

You will be sent an email once you have requested your place and it has been agreed by Renee Jasper-Griffith. This email will provide you with all you need to access the module and complete this elearning. This email is NOT to be shared amongst colleagues; each person who wishes to complete it MUST request their own place, as there are a limited number of places available.  We can evidence if you have shared your voucher with another person. In this instance there will be a payable fee.

Once you have booked your place and completed the module, your training record on your East Sussex Learning Portal account will be updated and you will be able to download a certificate - the updating of the portal will be done in batches, so this may not be immediate for you.

Code: ESC/22/203 Mental Health First Aid in the Workplace

‘Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) in the Workplace’ is a two day accredited training course which teaches people how to identify, understand and help their ESCC colleagues who may be experiencing a mental health issue.

You’ll learn to recognise warning signs of mental ill health, and develop the skills and confidence to approach and support someone whilst keeping yourself safe.

The course covers how to support someone to access the resources they might need for recovery or successful management of symptoms. This could include self-help books or websites, accessing therapy services through their GP or place of work, online self-referral, support groups, and much more.

It is essential that your line manager is made aware of the following at the time of, and before approving, your application.

What managers are agreeing to when approving their staff member’s attendance on this course:

  •  To releasing your staff member for the two day training course and any post training support sessions (an average of two sessions per year lasting approximately two hours each).
  • To releasing your staff member for related meetings and/or training (approximately 3 per year lasting approximately 90 minutes).
  • Allowing time to support colleagues when needed (often at short notice).
