Code: ASC/21/632 Food Safety Awareness - Covid19 Interim Training Programme (Cancelled)

This course is designed solely for care staff involved with serving food or drinks to clients, who do not have a direct role in the kitchen preparing or handling food, and who do not need to have the Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering. The course will provide a basic knowledge of food hygiene in order to ensure that they are able to work safely with the food and drink their clients may be consuming.

To get the full benefit of this training, delegates should attend with their own device where possible. This can be a laptop, tablet or a smartphone.

Delegates should print a copy of the attached Workbook before each course so that they can be used during the training.

Once your place on this event has been confirmed, you will receive a separate email with a link to the Microsoft Teams or Zoom meeting.

Code: ASC/21/629 Food Safety in Catering for PAs and Kitchen/Catering Staff in DPS - Covid19 Interim Training Programme

This course is NOT a qualification and is only suitable for kitchen/catering staff in DPS, and Personal Assistants who prepare or handle foods for clients. 

IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT STAFF ATTEND FACE TO FACE TRAINING IN A CLASSROOM ENVIRONMENT WHEN AVAILABLE.

To get the full benefit of this training, delegates should attend with their own device where possible. This can be a laptop, tablet or a smartphone.

You will also receive a workbook for completion during the course. Delegates should print a copy of this workbook before each course so that they can be used during the training.

Once your place on this event has been confirmed, you will receive a separate email with a link to the Zoom meeting. Please note this email will be sent from the East Sussex Learning Portal. please make sure you check your Spam/Junk folders for this email.

The link to join the training will be sent one  week before the day of the event.

Once you have successfully completed the training session, you will receive an email linking you to an evaluation form. Code: ASC/21/652 Moving and Handling of People and Objects for Care Support Workers, Volunteers and PAs - Foundation Level Part 2 (practical face to face session) - Covid19 Interim Training Programme

When requesting a place on this course, please provide us with the date you completed Part 1. If you have booked Part 1 but have not yet attended, please provide us with the date you are booked to attend. NOTE: PART 1 MUST BE ATTENDED AND THE WORKBOOK COMPLETED, RETURNED AND MARKED BEFORE ATTENDING PART 2. You can provide this information in the Special Requirements field on your booking form.

This is Part 2 of a two-part blended learning training programme to be used to reduce face to face training time in accordance with COVID19 regulations.

Part 1 of the training (a virtual session via Skype or Teams) must be completed prior to attending Part 2, which is a face to face practical.

The Part 2 practical can also be applied for if candidates have attended a live SKYPE version of this course tilted “Moving and Handling of People and Objects for Care Support Workers/Volunteers and PAs - Foundation Level - Covid19 Interim Training Programme”.

To adhere to Covid19 regulations this face to face course will be small groups with PPE masks, aprons and gloves provided.

The course is 2.5 hours long and will cover practical elements of:

  • Mobility testing
  • Sit to stand techniques
  • Assisting from chair to chair
  • Assisting in and out of bed, including the use of bed levers, bed pulls, non-slip slide sheets, leg lifters, utilising the profiling mattress
  • Walking aids
  • Assisting to walk techniques
  • Handling belts
  • Assisting clients on steps and stairs
  • Sliding boards
  • Turning aids
  • Dressing aids
  • Wheelchairs, including placing a wheelchair into a car.

 

For the practical element participants attending should be fit, dressed appropriately and able to fully participate. Footwear should be flat/ low heel and closed in toes. No flipflops. Candidates will need to wear PPE.

NB. please note there is no access to any drinks or refreshments, so candidates will need to bring their own with them.

The course does not cover clients with restricted mobility, i.e who need hoisting or spend longer periods in bed. This is covered in an additional 2-part blended learning session. The 2-part foundation course must be completed before the restricted mobility course is undertaken.

During Covid19 restrictions these 2 courses replace the:

  • Moving and handling of objects ½ day
  • Moving and handling of people foundation level full day
  • Moving and handling advanced level, hoisting ½ day.
