Code: ASC/22/342 Moving and Handling and Risk Assessment of People - Train the Trainer (EVENT FULL)

This is a 4 day Moving and Handling and Risk Assessment Train the Trainer Course. There are 4 sessions held as follows:

* 1 session is via MS TEAMS (Day 1)
and
* 3 are face to face (Days 2, 3 and 4)

Session 1 - Theory, legislation, lifting principles etc 4 hour session via MS TEAMS
Session 2 - Face to face – equipment familiarisation and techniques face to face 6 Hours
Session 3 - Risk assessment theory, face to face 3 hours 
Session 4 - Equipment and techniques, test and presentations, face to face 6 hours

The face to face sessions will be held at Firwood House in Eastbourne (see attached map).


This course is specifically for the manual handling training of people, not loads. It is geared to people who supervise, induct and/ or train staff in moving and handling of clients.

The course covers:

• Key legislation affecting the manual handling of people, anatomy of the spine and how to reduce the risk of spinal injury including Biomechanics principles
• The importance of individual client centred risk assessments, how to complete them and moving and handling plans
• A range of safe manual handling manoeuvres and techniques
• Ability testing
• Manual handling equipment including assisted standing equipment, hoists and slide sheets
• The learning styles and principles to become an effective teacher and assess staff competencies in the work place.

The course requires candidates to complete a risk assessment, deliver a teaching presentation and pass a written test.

This venue has a current Covid19 risk assessment. Any delegates showing Covid19 symptoms must not attend the training venue.

Code: ASC/22/502 Assisting the Fallen Person (Part 1) – Covid19 Interim Training Programme

This course will be delivered via Online Recorded Video, and you will not be expected to attend a specific venue.

This is a Distance Learning Course via presentation on YouTube and a Microsoft Form Quiz and takes approximately 2 hours to complete. The quiz must be completed within a week of the course date and the pass mark is 38/46. If the mark is lower, a scenario for you to complete will be sent after the trainer has reflected on your score.

For those without access to Microsoft forms a hard copy can be sent by special request. Please add this to the special requirements box on the portal when signing onto the course.

The course is the theory (Part 1), covering Assessment of the Fallen Person using a decision-making tool/check sheet to assess for injury and is there a need to call for an ambulance. The check sheet can also be used for information gathering prior to an ambulance arrival for the injured person.
For the uninjured or minor injury the course covers how to assist with self-help from the floor or when to call for and the use of a Elk lifting cushion, Felgains Lifting Chair or a Hoist.

This course has no practical element.

The course covers:

• Fallen person check sheet
• Additional information relating to fractures which may not have been covered in basic first aid training
• Pain assessment
• Body checks
• History taking
• Practicals in scenario style for body checking included in the workbook
• Decision making for self-help or equipment use.

Code: ASC/22/602 Food Safety in Catering for PAs and Kitchen/Catering Staff in DPS - Covid19 Interim Training Programme

This course will be delivered via an Online ZOOM meeting, and you will not be expected to attend a specific venue.

This course is NOT a qualification and is only suitable for kitchen/catering staff in DPS, and Personal Assistants who prepare or handle foods for clients. 

You will also receive a workbook for completion during the course. Delegates should print a copy of this workbook before each course so that they can be used during the training.

Once your place on this event has been confirmed, you will receive a separate email with a link to the Zoom meeting. Please note this email will be sent from the East Sussex Learning Portal. please make sure you check your Spam/Junk folders for this email.

IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT STAFF ATTEND FACE TO FACE TRAINING IN A CLASSROOM ENVIRONMENT WHEN AVAILABLE.

LAS Search and View is a half day of remote hands on training for East Sussex County Council users to familiarise themselves with the Adult Social Care LiquidLogic platform. This course is designed to show you how to navigate LiquidLogic, find clients and view case data and includes viewing scanned/uploaded images held within ECaseFile


This course is for anyone joining an ESCC team that uses LAS whether to view client data or input data into the system


As a new staff member your manager must request that a LiquidLogic account is created for you before attending this course. When the account is created you will receive an e-mail invitation to book onto this course. Existing users are welcome to book if they wish to refresh their skills.


You must complete this training in order to be able to access the LIVE system. The trainer will activate your account on attendance.
Training sessions are conducted via Microsoft Teams, please reserve the time in your diary.


You should assure yourself of the suitability of the learning environment from which you will access the online course. In order to focus on the learning content, you will need to access the session from a quiet location where you will not be disturbed. If it is not possible to do this within the office then you should select an alternative location/room that is more suitable, by agreement with your manager.
In order for you to be able to attend you will need to ensure that you are using an ESCC device that has a microphone and video capabilities. The person who will be delivering the session will send you a Microsoft Teams calendar invitation just before the training is scheduled to run
