This is a two day in-depth course aimed at key individuals within organisations that complete individual moving and handling risk assessments and plans for adult patients or carers.
The course aims to further develop their role as moving and handling risk assessors and ensure that risk assessments completed are balanced, person centred, fit for purpose, optimise clients abilities, and demonstrate clear reasoning of the risks that have been identified and how and why decisions have been reached to reduce them.
The course does not cover generic moving and handling risk assessments of objects.
Staff should not have attended the ESCC 4 day Moving and Handling Train the Trainer, as this course covers moving and handling risk assessment.
This course covers: legislation that impacts and frames the manual handling risk assessments, good practice in assessing risks, demonstrating a balanced risk assessment approach, how to write a risk assessment and a concise moving and handling plan.
There will be some case scenarios to work through.
For the practical element participants attending should be fit, dressed appropriately and able to fully participate. Footwear should be flat/ low heel and closed in toes. No flip-flops.
