EPILEPSY AWARENESS

On the date of your Epilepsy Awareness training, you will receive an email from tania.hudson@eastsussex.gov.uk with a link to a recorded presentation and assessment.

The training and assessment is expected to take approximately 2 hours.

PROCESS:

Watch the 40 minute ESCC Epilepsy Awareness presentation and 20 minute Epilepsy Society film.

Please then follow the relevant video links in the assessment regarding Buccal Midazolam.

NOTE: THIS TRAINING DOES NOT INCLUDE BUCCAL MIDAZOLAM COMPETENCY ASSESSMENT

IMPORTANT: THIS TRAINING IS PART OF THE FAST TRACK DISTANCE LEARNING DURING THE COVID-19 CRISIS AND IS SUITABLE FOR NEW AND EXISTNG STAFF. This course provides delegates with knowledge of safe moving and handling techniques and a basic knowledge of equipment they may need to use to safely move and handle a client. This course does not cover clients with restricted mobility issues, i.e. those who need hoisting or are cared for in bed. During the COVID 19 restrictions, This is covered in an additional 2 hour skype training session called Moving and Handling of People with Restricted Mobility for Care Support Workers/PAs. 

Due to the practical nature of moving and handling of people, it is recommended when accessible, candidates complete the face to face training available through East Sussex. 

The course covers:

  •  A basic knowledge of key legislation affecting the moving and handling and care of objects and people 
  •  Anatomy of the spine and how to reduce the risk of spinal injury by mplementing safe handling principles
  •  The importance of good sitting posture
  •  Knowledge of a range of safe moving and handling assisted mobility techniques, i.e. assisted standing techniques
  •  Techniques to assist someone getting in and out of a bed.

 

 
This is a remotely delivered course (via Microsoft Teams) and delegates should therefore ignore any map or venue information. Once your place on this event has been confirmed, you will receive a separate Outlook calendar invite with a link to the Microsoft Teams meeting. This training is designed for staff working in East Sussex Directly Provided Services who have previously completed the full day training. This refresher covers aspects of safe handling of medication in care settings and ESCC Medication Policy and Procedures.

This half day medication refresher should be undertaken every 2 years.
