Code: ASC/19/420 Basic Epilepsy Awareness Training - for Learning Disability Services (non ESCC) ONLY (EVENT FULL)

This training is ONLY suitable for those working in a Learning Disability service. ESCC staff should not attend this training but should refer to the ESCC DPS ONLY courses.   
 
  •  At the end of the training, a Community Learning Disability Nurse will demonstrate how to administer emergency medication used in epilepsy and you will watch a DVD of safe administration of Buccal Midazolam. You will also have the opportunity to practice the administration of rectal diazepam.
    If you require the rectal Diazepam training, please contact the Adult Social Care training team at asct@eastsussex.gov.uk  to confirm this. There is specific equipment needed that will only be brought on courses where delegates have confirmed a need for rectal Diazepam training. 
  •  Your manager will be responsible for providing on going support in the workplace but it will be your responsibility to highlight any concerns you have regarding administration of the medication.
  •  A certificate of attendance will be provided; this is not a certificate of competence.

Code: ASC/19/769 Completing Individual Risk Assessing for the Moving and Handling of Adults (Cancelled)

This one day course is aimed at key individuals within organisations that complete individual moving and handling risk assessments and plans for adult patients or carers. The course aims to further develop their role as manual handling risk assessors and ensure that risk assessments completed are balanced, person centred, fit for purpose, optimise clients' abilities, and demonstrate clear reasoning of the risks that have been identified, and how and why decisions have been reached to reduce them.

The course does not cover generic moving and handling risk assessments of objects.

Staff should not have attended the ESCC 4 day moving and handling train the trainer course previously, as this course covers moving and handling Risk Assessment.

This course covers: legislation that impacts and frames the manual handling risk assessments, good practice in assessing risks, demonstrating a balanced risk assessment approach and how to write a risk assessment and a concise moving and handling plan.

There will be some case scenarios to work through during the session.

For the practical element, delegates attending should be fit, dressed appropriately and able to fully participate. Footwear should be flat or a low heel and closed toes - no flip-flops or sandals.

This training is designed for staff working in East Sussex Directly Provided Services who have previously completed the full day training. This refresher covers aspects of safe handling of medication in care settings and ESCC Medication Policy and Procedures.

This half day medication refresher should be undertaken every 2 years.

This half day refresher workshop is aimed at staff who work with adults with care and support needs, and who need to know the basics of safeguarding, legal responsibilities and good practice. It is designed to update knowledge and skills of staff who have already completed the introductory level 1 Safeguarding Awareness course in line with the Care Act 2014 and the Sussex Multi Agency Policy and Procedures.
