LAS Search and View is a half day of training for East Sussex County Council users to familiarise themselves with the Adults Liquid Logic platform. This course is designed to show you how to navigate Liquid Logic, find clients and view case data and includes viewing scanned images held within ECaseFile

This course is for anyone joining an ESCC team that uses LAS whether to view client data or input data into the system

As a new staff member your manager must request that a Liquid Logic account is created for you before attending this course. When the account is created you will receive an e-mail invitation to book onto this course. Existing users are welcome to book if they wish to refresh their skills.

You must complete this training in order to be able to access the LIVE system. The trainer will activate your account on attendance.

Code: ASC/19/759 Moving and Handling of People for Care Support Workers/PAs - Foundation Refresher Course (EVENT FULL)

The course is ½ day covering low to medium mobility issues and use of equipment for service users.

This course has a large practical element.

The course covers:

  •  Reiteration of legislation
  •  Dynamic risk assessment
  •  Well-being of both carer and service users
  •  Assisting to stand
  •  Support when walking
  •  The use of a handling belt
  •  Using a transfer board
  •  Saturn turner
  •  Molift riser
  •  Dressing aids
  •  Pushing a wheelchair

This course has a large practical element and all participants are expected to practice all manoeuvres and use all equipment.

There will be no use of hoists or standaids or any bed work during this course. For these elements please book the half day ‘restricted
mobility course’.

Code: ASC/19/760 Moving and Handling of People with Restricted Mobility for Care Support Workers/PAs

NOTE: This half day course, together with the one day foundation level course, replaces the previous 1 Day Moving and Handling of People (Residential & Domiciliary) and refresher training due to additional equipment available for high level needs.

This half day course is for care givers who assist and provide personal care for those clients with limited mobility, i.e. clients who are non weight bearing, hoisted or spend prolonged periods in bed.

Applicants must have completed the 1 day Moving and Handling of People for Care Givers - Foundation Level prior to undertaking this training.

  • The course reflects back on legislation within care and health and safety and their relevance to moving and handling of people with complex needs
  • We teach candidates how to use a variety of equipment, including hoists and sling, various techniques for fitting slings with and without slide sheets
  • We cover the effects that immobility has on the body, in relation to posture, tissue viability, circulation etc and the importance of ensuring clients sit in a functional postural position and are repositioned appropriately
  • We look at clients who have restricted mobility within bed or who may need to spend prolonged periods within the bed, covering equipment and techniques to assist with rolling, repositioning in bed, techniques to fit slings and dress clients who have limited ability or are unable to be rolled.

For the practical element participants attending should be fit, dressed appropriately and able to fully participate. Footwear should be flat/ low heel and closed in toes. No flipflops or open toe sandals.

Code: ESC/19/175 Report and Letter Writing for Business

This course covers general report writing and letter writing skills. You will learn about the structure and layout of reports and letters as well as understand the development steps you will use to write a report or letter. The course also covers how to use the correct tone in report and letter writing as well as identifying common grammar, spelling and punctuation errors and finally takes a look at how to proofread your writing effectively.

 

Delegates are very welcome to bring their work laptops, if that is the way you'd normally work. But if you do please make sure that you put an Out Of Office entry on your Outlook and sign OUT of Skype so that you don't get disturbed during the training

This course is for anyone joining an ESCC team that uses Sharepoint libraries to store team information and who has not used Sharepoint before. The course will also cover managing your own Onedrive site used for storing personal documentation.
