Code: ASC/22/726 A Person-Centred Approach to Care and Support in Dementia (Tier 2/3) Module 2

It is highly recommended that delegates have already completed Dementia Awareness (Tiers 1 and 2) Module 1, as this course makes reference to some of the material from that course.

This course will be delivered via Online Recorded Video and you will not be expected to attend a specific venue.

This is a Tier 2/3 course aimed at all staff who work directly with people experiencing dementia. The course is linked to the Dementia Training Standards Framework 2018: Subject 4: Person-centred dementia care.

The course is delivered via a Recorded PowerPoint presentation which has been uploaded on the ESCC YouTube Channel. The course can be accessed over a 5-day period providing flexibility for the learner. There are various activities and case studies to engage the learner. The course requires the completion and return of a workbook which serves to foster a deeper level of learning.

The video (YouTube) can be viewed on all digital platforms (including mobile phone) and can be viewed independently or as a small group (dependent on organisational social distancing policy) so please ensure you have YouTube installed.

This is a remotely delivered course and delegates should therefore ignore any map or venue information.

The aim of the course is to give AMHPs the opportunity to update their legal knowledge and skills regarding their work under the Mental Health Act 1983. There will be a strong focus on practice dilemmas. The content of this course will change as it provides up to date summaries of recent case law and responds to requests from the Sussex AMHP Leads to cover practice issues which are immediately relevant to our AMHPs.

Code: ESC/22/395 Appraisal and Supervision (EVENT FULL)

This workshop looks at the skills needed by managers to get the most from these discussions, including how to tackle poor performance and how to further motivate high performers.

It will consist of 2 x half day, interactive, virtual classroom sessions, spaced 1 week apart. The course will use a case study to explore specific issues, particularly around dealing with staff who are struggling to perform well.

Each session will have trainer input, group work discussion and practice.

After day one, delegates will plan actions that they will undertake between day one and day two.

It is essential that you complete the "Maximising Performance" eLearning module prior to attending this workshop.

Code: ASC/22/503 Assisting the Fallen Person (Part 1) – Covid19 Interim Training Programme (c)

This course will be delivered via Online Recorded Video and you will not be expected to attend a specific venue.

The course will be via presentation on YouTube and a Microsoft Form Quiz and takes approximately 2 hours to complete. 

For those without access to Microsoft forms a hard copy can be sent by special request. Please add this to the special requirements box on the portal when signing onto the course.

The course is the theory (Part 1), covering Assessment of the Fallen Person using a decision-making tool/check sheet to assess for injury and is there a need to call for an ambulance. The check sheet can also be used for information gathering prior to an ambulance arrival for the injured person.
For the uninjured or minor injury the course covers how to assist with self-help from the floor or when to call for and the use of a Elk lifting cushion, Felgains Lifting Chair or a Hoist.

This course has a no practical element.

The course covers:

• Fallen person check sheet
• Additional information relating to fractures which may not have been covered in basic first aid training
• Pain assessment
• Body checks
• History taking
• Practicals in scenario style for body checking included in the workbook
• Decision making for self-help or equipment use.
