Code: ASC/19/655 Advanced Manual Handling and Risk Assessment Training for Occupational Therapists

This one day course is aimed at Occupational Therapists within adult social care that assess and work with adults with complex moving and
handling requirements.

The course aims to further develop their role as a Manual Handling Risk Assessor and in prescribing non stock equipment appropriately.

It covers:

  • legislation that impacts on complex moving and handling risk assessments, good practice in assessing risks, clinical reasoning demonstrating a balanced risk assessment approach, how to write a risk assessment and a concise moving and handling plan
  • a familiarisation of moving and handling equipment, including some non stock items that may be useful in reducing risks and facilitating single handed care, including repo sheet and alternative slings
  • Assessing complex scenarios and demonstrating techniques to carers and clients.

For the practical element participants attending should be fit, dressed appropriately and able to fully participate. Footwear should be
flat/ low heel and closed in toes. No flipflops.

Code: CWA291AB Adopting a Whole Family Approach to Domestic Abuse and Promoting Safety - Professional Level Workshop

This popular course is essential for practitioners from Children's Services and Adult Social Care, education, early help, the police and health, to review, update and consolidate core knowledge about domestic abuse. 

This two day ‘professional level’ workshop is part of the domestic abuse thematic learning pathway and will give an overarching and updated view on current research, theory and practice in the field. It is relevant for all East Sussex children's services practitioners working with children, young people and families assessed as level 3 or 4 on the Continuum of Need.

Code: ASC/19/541 End of Life Care for Managers and Senior Staff ONLY: Embedding End of Life Care Excellence within Residential Care Homes (1 day) and Advance Care Planning (1/2 day) (c)

A 1.5 day interactive session for managers/senior care home staff who are responsible for leading on best practice and for ensuring that excellence in end of life care and in advance care planning is embedded within their organisation. 

This training is aimed at Managers and Senior staff in care homes with responsibility for implementing best practice, staff training and/or completing person centred support/care plans.

Explore the practical aspects of advance care planning including communication skills, timing and appropriateness of the conversations and how to document and share the information. 

Delegates are required to attend both the whole day End of Life Care and the half day Advanced Care Planning training to complete this course.
