This workshop looks at the skills needed by managers to get the most from these discussions, including how to tackle poor performance and how to further motivate high performers.
It will consist of 2 x half day, interactive, virtual classroom sessions, spaced 1 week apart. The course will use a case study to explore specific issues, particularly around dealing with staff who are struggling to perform well.
Each session will have trainer input, group work discussion and practice.
After day one, delegates will plan actions that they will undertake between day one and day two.
It is essential that you complete the "Maximising Performance" elearning module & pre-course work prior to attending this workshop.
Any specific questions regarding supervision and appraisal can be sent to the trainer up to five days before the course, to help contextualise the sessions. There will be a case study, the first part of which will need to be read before day one.
IMPORTANT: THIS TRAINING IS PART OF THE COVID19 INTERIM TRAINING PROGRAMME AND IS SUITABLE FOR NEW AND EXISTNG STAFF.
IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT NEW STAFF ATTEND FACE TO FACE TRAINING WHEN AVAILABLE.
You will be sent a link to a resource and also a workbook via email, so it’s vital that you give us your correct email address if it differs from the one on your East Sussex Learning Portal user account.
Workbooks are not to be shared between colleagues; each person who wishes to complete this training MUST book their own place on it. Workbooks returned to the trainer by delegates who have not booked a place will NOT be marked.
After completing the workbook please return it (via an email with answers typed or completed in PDF, saved and returned) for marking to firstname.lastname@example.org by no later than the Friday after you receive the workbook.
Workbooks received after this time will not be marked and your training record will not be updated to show completion of this course.

PLEASE NOTE: The legal system for DoLS is planned to change to ‘Liberty Protection Safeguards’ (LPS) in April 2022. This current training WILL NOT include in any detail, the new legislation. Additional training on the new Law will be provided nearer that time.
This introduction and update to the DoLS is suitable for all staff directly or indirectly involved in registered accommodation (public or independent sector) or hospital wards and for staff working in adult social care in respect of ‘Community DoLS’.
This training consist of two half day sessions. Your application, once confirmed, will be a booking for both half days.
