This session will be facilitated by Dr Aruna Wijetunge, Consultant Psychiatrist, Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and David Watson, Principal Lecturer.

This study session will explore the clinical presentation and associated risks of older people and its relevance to the assessment of older people under the Mental Health Act.

The session will also cover the legal and policy situation and messages from research.

EPILEPSY AWARENESS

On the date of your Epilepsy Awareness training, you will receive an email from tania.hudson@eastsussex.gov.uk with a link to a recorded presentation and assessment.

The training and assessment is expected to take approximately 2 hours.

PROCESS:

Watch the 40 minute ESCC Epilepsy Awareness presentation and 20 minute Epilepsy Society film.

Please then follow the relevant video links in the assessment regarding Buccal Midazolam.

NOTE: THIS TRAINING DOES NOT INCLUDE BUCCAL MIDAZOLAM COMPETENCY ASSESSMENT

Code: LSC692 ESSCP: Improving Outcomes For Children in Care (Virtual) (EVENT FULL)

This Pan Sussex multi-agency training opportunity is aimed at all practitioners and carers working or caring for looked after children or care leavers. This includes foster carers, residential workers, GPs, Health Visitors, School Nurses, Independent Reviewing Officers and Supervising Social Workers.

Messages from practice and research highlights that children and adults who are care experienced have higher rates of physical, emotional, social, and educational need, and are more likely to experience homelessness, teenage pregnancy, prison and problems with their mental and emotional health. They are also more likely to die younger. The majority of children who enter care have suffered significant harm, neglect and trauma, and some are children who have travelled alone from their country of origin to seek asylum in UK.

The training will be delivered by trainers from Health and Children's Services, as live interactive classroom training, delivered through Microsoft Teams.

Important note: It is essential that you have completed the Safeguarding Children eLearning and the pre-course learning, prior to coming on this course (see additional information under full details), or you may be turned away.

This course is provided to allow partners to understand the profile of the Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) and how their implementation and coordination monitors and manages the potential risk presented by offenders who reside within the community.

Code: ASC/21/514 First Aid at Work Re-certification

A re-certification course for First Aiders with a current First Aid at Work certificate.

The Health and Safety Executive currently states:
FAW or EFAW certificates that expired after 16 March 2020 can remain valid until 31 October 2020 or 6 months from date of expiry, whichever is later. All requalification training for these certificates should be completed by 31 March 2021.
Therefore, if your certificate has already expired, you will be required to complete the 3 day First Aid at Work training course to re-qualify.

First Aiders whose certificates are still valid should attend the training up to 3 months before the expiry date of their certificate or 28 days afterwards. The new certificate will then take effect from the date of expiry. Please note for those attending during the 28 days after expiry, first aid cannot be administered beyond the date of expiry of the appropriate first aid certificate, until the member of staff has re-qualified. Anyone unable to renew their qualification during that period will need to attend a full First Aid at Work 18 hour course.

The last day of a re-certification course should be no more than 28 days after the certificate expiry date

All Delegates need to physically attend the course in a classroom setting at the venue. This is NOT delivered as an online distance learning course.

Note: This course requires a demonstration of competency in administering CPR, which involves kneeling on the floor beside an anatomical dummy. If you are unable to work on the floor to perform CPR you will not be permitted to undertake this course.

IMPORTANT: Due to Covid19 restrictions, delegates must bring hand sanitiser and wear a face covering at all times when in communal areas of the venue; and if requested by the Trainer. No delegate should attend if they are showing signs or symptoms of Covid19, or have been in close contact with a Covid19 patient within 14 days.

This course will be reviewed in light of any change in current lockdown arrangements and delegates will be contacted as necessary.

This learning will be delivered remotely via MS Teams.

It is scheduled to take place over 2 days, with 3 separate sessions on each day, allowing ample time for coffee/comfort breaks. See Additional Information below for more details.  

Getting the job done through effective team management, new managers are often responsible for the first time for the management of other people. This new role therefore needs new skills and knowledge. This course is designed to give this basic understanding and some of the required skills so that new managers can thrive from the start.

IMPORTANT: There are six sessions included in this event, and if attending you will need to participate in all six events which are spread over two days. 

There will be pre-course work which will be sent to confirmed delegates about a week before the event.

New ESCC managers should also attend the Induction for ESCC Managers course.

As a new staff member your manager must request that a Liquid Logic account is created for you before attending this course. When the account is created you will receive an e-mail invitation to book onto this course. Existing users are welcome to book if they wish to refresh their skills.

You must complete this training in order to be able to access the LIVE system. The trainer will activate your account on attendance.

This course will teach you to understand what mental health is, how to challenge stigma and common mental health issues.

You will have an introduction to looking after your own mental health and maintaining wellbeing. You will gain confidence to support others who may be experiencing mental health issues.

The MHFA course is delivered by a quality assured Instructor accredited by the Royal Society for Public Health, who are trained to keep people safe and supported while they learn.
