Code: ASC/20/195 Safeguarding Adults: Making Safeguarding Enquiries for Lead Enquiry Officers(LEOs) (Cancelled)

This one day course is for operational staff in ESCC Adult Social Care Services who may be asked to make or contribute to a safeguarding enquiry under Section 42 of the Care Act 2014, and will include; the Local Authority's duty under s42 of the Care Act 2014; planning an enquiry; involving the adult – using a Making Safeguarding Personal approach; completing an enquiry.
 
This is for staff, new to ESCC or new to the role of making enquiries. Staff who have previously completed Enquiry Officer / Enquiry Manager training do not need to attend as the course content is very similar.
 
Staff will need to have completed a Safeguarding Adults Basic Awareness training session before attending this 1 day course.
 
PLEASE NOTE: LAS (Liquid Logic Adults) Safeguarding Adults Training has been arranged to follow on from this LEO training. If you have not already completed this mandatory training prior to attending this LEO course you can book onto the LAS training in the usual way, via the East Sussex Learning Portal. This course is aimed at all levels of care and support workers who may find a person who has fallen.

The course is ½ day covering assessment of the fallen person using a series of checks to assess for injury. The questions can also be used for information gathering prior to an ambulance arrival for the injured person. This is in line with the I-stumble protocols and app.

For the uninjured person, the course covers how to assist with self-help from the floor and the use of a lifting cushion, lifting chair or a hoist.

This course has a large practical element.

The course covers:

  • Fallen person checks
  • Additional information relating to fractures which may not have been covered in basic first aid training
  • Pain assessment
  • Body checks
  • History taking
  • Practicals in scenario style for body checking
  • Decision making for self-help or equipment use
  • Practical use of Mangar Elk and hoisting from floor.

Code: ASC/20/209 Level 2 Award in Food Safety for PAs and Kitchen/Catering staff in DPS (Cancelled)

This course is only suitable for kitchen/catering staff in DPS, and Personal Assistants who prepare or handle foods for clients.

The qualification is equivalent to the Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering and the Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Retail.  

IMPORTANT: All participants will be required to bring to the course photo identification as proof of their identity for checking by the trainer. Failure to provide identification will result in the person being turned away from the training. This is a requirement of the qualification awarding body. The following forms of photo ID are acceptable.

- Valid passport

- Signed UK photo card Driving Licence

- Current employer photo ID card

- Student ID card

- Travel Card

Where none of the above are available another form of ID containing a signature MAY be accepted e.g. credit card where the trainer is satisfied the signature on the ID matches the participant’s signature on the attendance list.
