Code: ASC/22/140 Assisting the Fallen Person (Part 1) – Covid19 Interim Training Programme (c)

This is a Distance Learning Course via presentation on YouTube and a Microsoft Form Quiz and takes approximately 2 hours to complete. The quiz must be completed within a week of the course date and the pass mark is 38/46. If the mark is lower, a scenario for you to complete will be sent after the trainer has reflected on your score.

For those without access to Microsoft forms a hard copy can be sent by special request. Please add this to the special requirements box on the portal when signing onto the course.

The course is the theory (Part 1), covering Assessment of the Fallen Person using a decision-making tool/check sheet to assess for injury and is there a need to call for an ambulance. The check sheet can also be used for information gathering prior to an ambulance arrival for the injured person.
For the uninjured or minor injury the course covers how to assist with self-help from the floor or when to call for and the use of a Elk lifting cushion, Felgains Lifting Chair or a Hoist.

This course has a no practical element.

The course covers:

• Additional information relating to fractures which may not have been covered in basic first aid training
• Pain assessment
• Body checks
• History taking
• Practical’s in scenario style for body checking included in the workbook
• Decision making for self-help or equipment use.

Code: ASC/22/221 Induction to the Level 3 Unit: Provide Support to Maintain and Develop Skills for Everyday Life - Covid19 Interim Training Programme (Cancelled)

This level 3 certificated course is part of the new reablement training pathway open to reablement support workers.

Prior to starting this course participants are required to have completed the following;

  • Care Certificate
  • Moving and Handling
  • Core Principles of Reablement
  • REAP OT Reablement and Activity Analysis (Part 1 & 2 )
  • Pre course interview

In the six weeks following the course induction, participants will be required to complete 3 virtual training sessions which cover the required underpinning knowledge.

Participants will also be given support to gather evidence including a completed workbook, learning log, reflective journal and expert witness testimonies to demonstrate achievement of the Level 3 Unit: Provide Support to Maintain and Develop Skills for Everyday Life.

This is a remotely delivered course and delegates should therefore ignore any map or venue information.

The training will be delivered through Microsoft TEAMS. Once your place on this event has been confirmed, you will receive a separate Outlook calendar invite with a link to the first TEAMS meeting. Please note this invite will be sent close to the day/time of the event. Please read the attached document – Attending online training- before joining the course.

Code: ASC/22/92 Moving and Handling of People for Care Support Workers, Volunteers and PAs - Foundation Level Part 2 (practical face to face session) - Covid19 Interim Training Programme (Cancelled)

When requesting a place on this course, you must allow 3 weeks between the dates of Part 1 and Part 2 to allow for the workbook to be completed, returned to the Trainer and marked. When you book Part 2 please provide us with the date Part 1 was completed in the Special Requirements field on your booking form. If Part 1 has not been completed, your place on Part 2 will not be confirmed.

To adhere to Covid19 regulations this face to face course will be small groups with PPE masks, aprons and gloves provided.

The course is 2.5 hours long and will cover practical elements of:

  • Mobility testing
  • Sit to stand techniques
  • Assisting from chair to chair
  • Assisting in and out of bed, including the use of bed levers, bed pulls, non-slip slide sheets, leg lifters, utilising the profiling mattress
  • Walking aids
  • Assisting to walk techniques
  • Handling belts
  • Assisting clients on steps and stairs
  • Sliding boards
  • Turning aids
  • Dressing aids
  • Wheelchairs, including placing a wheelchair into a car.

Please specify on your application if you are new to care work and haven’t completed a practical moving and handling training, so priority can be given to your application.
